Friday Night Wine Series and A.P. Classes

PCSW Student Halen Seevinck enjoys the Chardonnay Smackdown!

Friday Night Wine Series: Our 45-minute classes are held evenings, (schedule at left,) starting promptly at 6:15 p.m. The topics vary each week and are selected by our headmistress. During each class we taste five wines, each under $30 per bottle, studying many aspects of the wine including growing region, grape characteristics, wine labels, and vocabulary. Student participation is highly encouraged. At the end of the class, the students grade the wines and learn pricing and critics’ ratings, if any.

A.P. Classes: These hour and a half classes are held on selected Saturday nights, (schedule at left,) starting promptly at 6:00 p.m. These in depth classes provide a minimum of six wines with food samples, and cover detailed information about regions, varietal information, labels, vocabulary, etc. Blind tastings will be featured. At the end of the class, students will grade the wines and learn pricing and critics' ratings, if any.

Restaurant wait staff training

A forty-five minute class that covers everything a server needs to know to sell the restaurant's wine including: pairing suggestions, proper presentation, graceful opening techniques, hierarchy of pouring order, leaving the wine at the table and suggestions for reordering. An optional forty-five minute tasting segment can be added to highlight up to five wines from the restaurant's wine list.

Private wine classes

Bring your favorite group together and expand your wine knowledge amongst friends. Great for book clubs, gourmet dinner groups, and neighbors this forty-five minute class will get the evening off to lively start.

Private wine parties

Plan your dinner around a theme, (wine regions, wine varieties, pairings,) and we'll be there to educate your guests at stations. This is a mingling type of education, rather than a "sit-down-and-listen" kind of class. Your guests can spend as much time as they like, moving around the stations, sampling, listening or just socializing with friends.

Corporate events

Spice up the norm. We'll work with your caterer to pair wines with your food choices, then we will create stations at your event with report cards and fun prizes to stimulate guest interaction and tie in to the corporate goals of the meeting.
